Look at how deep the wheel have sunk into the lawn, when it finally takes off

  1. Sounds like radial engines.

    1. exactly what I was thinking, and explains the excessive amount of oil smoke, from the radial problem of the bottom cylinders getting oil draining into them

    2. Wikipedia says that it uses radial engines. It looks like they are using a tank of gaseous fuel for the start and engine tests, with the tank laying on the ground next to the helicopter.

    3. I was wondering about the tank on the ground... I thought maybe it was compressed air to push start the motor, and get the oil pumps operating before igniton, hence the smoky start up.

    4. It could be compressed air too. I didn't think of that

    1. YES! I saw that too! What a terrible place to have landed, so many trees, and nearby power lines far overhead!

    2. I looked again, high res, and full screen, he actually went OVER them, but not by much!
